Evan The Warrior of Nod by Tamara Shepard

Down a long, winding, and turning lane sat a large old stone house. Each rock covered with ivy and on the north end grew green moss. It looked like something from a postcard. Here lived a boy named Evan with his younger sister Greta. His parent’s Everet and Ivy Isenar work as archaeologists at Umbrae’s Old World Artifacts Museum; one that collects old an rare artifacts from all over the world. This was the fourth time Evan and his family had moved in two years, and mom and dad had promised it was the last move for a long time. He loved what his parents did for a living. Evan always took interest in every piece that came into the museum before they had moved. Now he was looking forward to learning all the new pieces at an even larger museum. Evan could only imagine what was inside, especially when the pieces are called old and rare. Those words sparked his interest even more.

Every day was hard for Evan, because his new school was not like his old one. It seemed like everyone was into all the new trends. He was never interested in new fashions, even though his parents encouraged him to buy new clothes from a clothing store; he insisted on getting them from a thrift shop where people had donated their belongings. He said these stores had more variety, something that wasn’t so boring. And often he dressed in clothes that were far from “in” fashion. Earlier that day he had found a great shop on the outskirts of town that caught his interest. After convincing his mother that he would be home for supper, Evan walked to the store to see what new things he could find.
